We do not have a heavy ironing board, but apparently it is too heavy for this. I’ve tried to hang the ironing board inside the closet and the apparatus keeps the door from completely closing. When we hang it outside the door, same frustrating situation. I have a cat that loves to sleep inside the closet and she leaves her beautiful white hair over every shoe and piece of clothing in the closet. So I now have one useless metal contraption hanging over my door and an abundance of cat hair in the closet. I definitely do not suggest you buy this over-the-door ironing board hanger unless you have an extremely light ironing board (maybe a mini board will work?) and no cat/dog in the house. There has got to be a better designed product to help store the board.

Can I polish wrought iron for in-door use with iron Door stove polish or black shoe polish? I don’t want to paint…

I ordered the Over the Door Iron Board Holder after reading the positive reviews this product received. I liked the fact that you could either hang the product from a door or attach it to a wall. The only space I have in the laundry room to use the iron board holder was hanging on the back of the door so when the item arrived today, I went to hang up the holder and placed our ironing board on it.

This product does NOT work well with the Rowenta IB-6100 ironing board which is the ironing board we have. The strength of the metal used for the over the door hangars is weak and when I placed the ironing board on the holder, everything dropped to the floor because the hangars couldn’t handle the weight of the ironing board. If you have an ironing board with a T-leg that isn’t heavy duty that you got from a big box store, this product would be more suited to handle it.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to use this product in our current residence because we have no where to attach the holder to the wall so we’re going to have to wait until we move this summer to be able to see if I can use it. The design concept is very nice but the quality of the execution leaves more to be desired.

I was surprised to see that this ironing board holder was as weak as it turned out to be. I do have a larger size ironing board (as I’m a quilter.) However, it’s not gigantic. The first time I used it, it pulled the two pieces of metal that go over the top of the door into a stretched out shape. I pushed them back in to shape, but have realized why it has the holes in the top. I guess with the heavier boards, it’s necessary to screw them in to the top of the door. Also, our iron is a tight fit. If I try to pull it out, it also pulls the holder off the door. I’m not thrilled with it, but it does it’s job. It’s just a bit difficult getting the board and iron off of the holder when I need it.

Product arrived to me on time and is a great space saver! I have it hanging behind the bathroom door and the iron fits perfectly in the designated spot. I would definitely recommend for people living in small apartments with little storage space. :)

I thought this would be a waste of money….but I actually enjoy it. My husband and I are short on storage space so this worked perfectly. It bangs when you close the actual door it’s on so I had to take it off the baby’s nursery door(which was previously a guest room…) but it’s 10 bucks and worth it!

I was concerned that my door would have trouble closing, but there is no problem at all. Saves space and works as advertised.

This was what I needed. It hold my Hamilton Beach Stainless look iron I bought at Walmart. Solid and feels sturdy. It organizes both my ironing board and iron well. You have to get this. I shopped all over Amazon for the right one and this was the best I found for over the door easy installation. Just hang and forget it.

I bought a Polder ironing board from Amazon and figured the Polder holder should work. Wrong. The arms are too flimsy and they twist under load. The ironing board then falls out.

I agree with other reviews that this device does NOT work with ironing boards with angled legs (as pictured). You do need a T-leg board.

It is also a bit fickle with the size of the iron. If your iron is either really wide or really thin, it may not sit in the holder very well.

You also need to be gentle when closing the door that this is hanging on. While the top part stays secure, the bottom part of the iron can still swing. I have gotten used to this over time.

Other than that, it is a better looking device than some other ironing board holders. It’s not very bulky or complex.

I purchased this Ironing Board Hanger cause I have a ‘Y’ shaped board like the one in the picture. When you hand the board on it, the hanger twists a little thus not hanging flat against the closet door. Also, the whole contraption hangs too high up so the door won’t even close when the actual iron is on it.

We bought the Polder OTD Iron/Board Wall Mount for $9.99 at a hardware store.

The assembly is straightforward and simple, (it literally takes about two minutes,)and the metal seems strong.

We have a T-shaped footing on our ironing board, not the Y shaped like in the picture, and so our board hangs perfectly. But I really don’t see how a Y foot board would be that sturdy hanging on the hooks. (Others Amazon reviewers have brought this up.) Our iron, when the cord is wrapped around the bottom, sits nicely on the holder. The iron holder has a pretty substantial lip on it so I don’t think it is going anywhere. Our iron can sit, full of water, and not leak, which was something I was worried about when I first looked at the product.

The part that secures the rack over the top of the door is big enough to accomodate a substantial width, but this could create problems if you have a really thin door. With too much play the whole rack could shift around quite a bit when opening and closing the door.

The door we have it on is average sized and if we open the door very quickly, the ironing board will swing a bit and bump against the door. Fortunately, we are storing it on the back of a closet door that we don’t open frequently.

One word of warning: the hooks for the legs of the ironing board hang down quite low from the top of the door. If you have an extra large ironing board, or an extra short door, you may want to do some measuring before you buy, otherwise you may end with the ironing board hitting the floor. (As one reviewer here, and several elsewhere have noted.)
